25 MAY 2015 ¦ GENEVA - The World Health Assembly today agreed resolutions to tackle antimicrobial resistance

Tackling antimicrobial drug resistance.

Delegates at the World Health Assembly endorsed a global action plan to tackle antimicrobial resistance - including antibiotic resistance, the most urgent drug resistance trend. Antimicrobial resistance is occurring everywhere in the world, compromising our ability to treat infectious diseases, as well as undermining many other advances in health and medicine.

The plan sets out 5 objectives:

• improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance;
• strengthen surveillance and research;
• reduce the incidence of infection;
• optimize the use of antimicrobial medicines;
• ensure sustainable investment in countering antimicrobial resistance.

The resolution urges Member States to put the plan into action, adapting it to their national priorities and specific contexts and mobilizing additional resources for its implementation. Through adoption of the global plan, governments all committed to have in place, by May 2017, a national action plan on antimicrobial resistance that is aligned with the global action plan. It needs to cover the use of antimicrobial medicines in animal health and agriculture, as well as for human health. WHO will work with countries to support the development and implementation of their national plans, and will report progress to the Health Assembly in 2017.

Minutes du colloque Patients for patient safety - LE LIEN et l’OMS, ensemble pour la sécurité des patients

Paris, le 25 novembre 2014 LE LIEN en collaboration avec l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé:

L’association LE LIEN, en collaboration avec l’OMS, a organisé à l’Assemblée Nationale, dans le cadre de la 4ème édition de la semaine de sécurité des patients, un colloque commun réunissant des représentants d’usagers, des professionnels de santé, des représentants des institutions et des décideurs publics en santé.

À cette occasion, pour la première fois en France, l’OMS a présenté son programme sur l’engagement des patients et des familles pour la sécurité des patients. Pour l’OMS, il s’agit de susciter au plan mondial une mobilisation des patients et de leurs familles pour l’amélioration de la sécurité et de la qualité des soins. Pour cette première présentation, en France, l’OMS  a choisi de s’appuyer sur LE LIEN dont elle a pu mesurer l’implication et l’audience dans ce domaine.
